Photography tips

How this image was taken

For this shot, a focal length of 22 mm, a shutter speed of 30 s, and an aperture of f/16 were used at ISO 400 to capture enough light for the night scene and to depict the details of the city lights and the mountain.

  • Use a long shutter speed to allow the faint ambient light of the dusk to reach the sensor.
  • Choose a small aperture such as f/16 to render the city lights as small, defined points.
  • Set a moderate ISO of 400 to keep image noise low during long exposures.
