Photography tips

How this image was taken

Using an aperture of f/10 achieves a deep depth of field, rendering both the trees in the foreground and the Hotel Schweizerhof in the background in detail. The shutter speed of 1/200 s prevents motion blur in the boats, while the ISO of 500 provides a balanced exposure under these cloudy conditions.

  • Select an aperture of f/10 to ensure consistent focus from the snow-covered trees to the city architecture.
  • Pay attention to the shutter speed to ensure sharp images of moving subjects like the boats on the lake without camera shake.
  • Use a moderate ISO setting in diffused light to maintain enough detail in both the bright snow and the darker parts of the buildings under cloudy skies.
