How this image was taken

For this night shot, a shutter speed of 1.3 seconds was chosen to capture sufficient light despite the dark conditions. An aperture of f/4 allowed for a deliberate depth of field, while the low ISO of 200 kept image noise to a minimum.

  • Use a longer shutter speed to integrate ambient light into your composition.
  • Select an open aperture to deliberately include the foreground in your frame.
  • Use a framing element in the foreground to create depth and structure.
